Female Sport Leaders Promoting Gender Independent Physical Activity
“Female Sport Leaders Promoting Gender Independent Physical Activity (GEIN)”, is a capacity building project in the field of sport. It supports sport actors in Albania and Kosovo to promote gender equality by means of educational activities and mentorship. By surveying and piloting the six principles for gender equality and empowerment of women and girls in sports, developed by UN Women and the HeForShe movement, GEIN supports grassroot level female sport participation and leadership in a field that is strongly dominated by men. GEIN unites all genders to work for the project objectives of GEIN in accordance with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 5. The overall objective of GEIN is to promote common values, non-discrimination, and gender equality through sports. The specific objectives of GEIN are: 1) to promote awareness and activities of gender equality among all genders, 2) to create knowledge and to build capacities on gender equality in sport societies, 3) to build up a network of mentors for promoting gender equality in sports. GEIN organizes workshops and mentoring for female sport actors on both national and international levels, including parasports. Various institutions will work
together for gender equal sports, especially in Albania and Kosovo. Transnational cooperation invites also male influencers in sports to work towards the goals of GEIN.
