ECOSTEAM4BASICS

ECOSTEAM4BASICS is an Erasmus+ Forward-Looking project that builds on existing EU wide research and practice to target the enhancement of
basic skills (literacy, numeracy, digital literacy, problem-solving); this responds to an important educational need across Europe: low proficiency in
essential skills among children and young people. Focused on students aged between 3 and 12 (early childhood and primary education), the initiative
uses an innovative approach blending inclusive outdoor education with STEAM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).
It proposes a holistic and replicable framework that connects green skills, STEAM competencies, and inclusive practices into mainstream school
education.
The project tackles systemic gaps by empowering teachers with nature-based, innovative, inclusive, and experience-based learning STEAM resources
that are particularly effective for disadvantaged learners. Teachers, kids, families, and policymakers come together in a co-creative collaborative
context locally and transnationally, to form, pilot and refine the holistic ECOSTEAM4BASICS resources.
Key outcomes include:
-A validated Outdoor STEAM Pedagogical Framework developed and tested together across the partner countries.
- Professional development for 120+ educators, backed by a dedicated mentoring scheme and blended learning programme.
- A 15% improvement in the core abilities of students, including vulnerable demographic groups (25%)
- Active parental involvement, with 100+ families participating in home-based STEAM activities.
- Policy influence, including Living Labs and a Policy Roadmap endorsed by local educational authorities.
All deliverables, including toolkits, instructional manuals, and educational training modules, will be available as multilingual Open
Educational Resources (OERs). ECOSTEAM4BASICS is a sustainable and scalable project to support the European Education Area 2030
goals and Pathways to School Success.
