Target audience

This symposium is a nexus for sharing best practices and innovative strategies, uniting students, healthcare practitioners, educators, teachers and trainers, administrators, researchers and scholars, and policymakers across the European healthcare landscape.

Objectives

This hybrid event aims to provide a comprehensive exploration of the importance of clinical reasoning, covering its conceptual foundations, measurement tools, determinants, and educational and practical implications. Participants will engage in discussions around effective strategies, best practices, and interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance clinical reasoning across healthcare domains.

Dagje Boeykens obtained a Master’s degree in Health Promotion and Education at Ghent University in 2019 and a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy in 2018. In 2019 she started a PhD entitled ‘Goal-oriented care: Bridging theory and practice. Towards building blocks for primary health care interventions’ which she defended in September 2023. Her PhD was embedded in the consortium of the Primary Care Academy, funded by Fund Dr. Daniël De Coninck of the King Baudouin Foundation and conducted at Ghent University. During this PhD a close connection with primary care stakeholders was maintained. Dagje also conducted research on behaviors related to antibiotics and biocides in Belgium on behalf of the FDS Public Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment at the University of Antwerp. Currently, Dagje is working at a lecturer and researcher at Artesis Plantijn University of Applied Sciences in the occupational therapy program.

Nina Purg Suljič, Ph.D. in Neuroscience, is a postdoctoral researcher and a teaching assistant at the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Her research focuses on studying human cognition, particularly working memory and cognitive control, with a combination of behavioral and neuroimaging experimental approaches, such as fMRI and EEG.

Marc Verschueren, PhD. in organizational psychology, is an ICF-trained executive coach and leadership expert. He is also a guest professor at the Faculty of Medicine of KU Leuven, where he leads the Network for Leadership Development in Healthcare. He was the driving force behind the Clinical Leadership Project.
